LEAP DAY!!

On Monday it was Leap day. Leap day is an extra day that only happens on February 29th and this only happens every four years. We won't have another leap day until we are in 6th grade. We celebrated Leap day by doing silly leaping things. We played leap frog, and wrote a story about what time we would leap if we could. I chose when my dad was a kid. I would love to leap and meet him as a kid. We also colored these frogs and went on a leap day scavenger hunt. It was a fun fun day. By: Red Panda

The Branches of the Government

We are learning about the Government. It very complicated but we know that there are three parts. They are the Judicial, the Executive and the Legislative. The Executive is the President! The Judicial is the judges or the Supreme Court and the Legislative is the Congress! We made these cool trees that flip to remind us about the three branches. We made this video to show what we are learning. We hope you like it! By: Puppy

Dr. Seuss Day!!!

We like reading books! On March 2nd, it was Dr. Seuss' birthday! We were so happy. We celebrated it all day long. We read a lot of his books and they were great. Here you can see a pile his books. We have lots of them in our classroom. They filled up our whole kidney table.

During Math, we used what we learned about measurement to make a "Cat in the Hat" Hat! We had to measure how tall and wide it was and figure out how big the strips were. It was not too hard but kind of tricky to get the lines straight. We had a lot of fun doing it.

We also made these silly Thing one and Thing two project. We painted our hands to make their heads. We then drew their bodies and glued their numbers on them. We wrote the character traits that describe them around their heads. They are so silly.

This is a silly picture of our teacher. We used a fun app called "Cat cam" to take silly Dr. Seuss pictures! We thought they were so funny and fun to do!

We hope you had fun on Dr. Seuss' birthday too!

Lent Jar

This is a Lent Jar. We use it to put slips inside. We write things that we did during Lent to help others. We can also write things that we gave up or are trying to do to help Jesus. It helps us remember that Jesus loves us and that on Easter he is going to die for us. We keep it on our prayer table and can put our good deeds in it when we do them. By: Horse

Parts of Speech Robots

These are parts of speech robots. You have to find adjectives, pronouns, verbs and nouns on a paper. We wrote the words on the correct body part. It was tricky because there were lots of words. We got to put together the robot. We hung them on our cubbies and everyone can see them when they come into our classroom. We love them! By: Owl

We LOVE to Read!

We picked a book that was our favorite. We had to write in introduction sentence, details, and a conclusion. We also to write reasons why we really loved this book. I did the book, "Frankenstein Valentine." We made sure to edit our writing because good writers always edit. We put them on the wall, so that other people could see our creations and maybe want to read out book too. We drew the cover of the book because people wouldn't know what book we loved. Now they can find them in our bookcase too! By: Fox

Measuring with Colored Tiles

We are learning about how to measure with different things. We started by using colored tiles. This picture shows us measuring items with color tiles. We are now working using measuring tapes, rulers, and yardsticks to measure in inches, feet and yards. We think it's fun to measure but its hard work too.
We can't wait to learn how to measure in centimeters! By: Pony

Martin Luther King Jr. was a kind and he was Minister. He helped the world by helping white people and black people be the same and equal. He gave a famous speech called, "I have a dream." We used the computer to record a video of "I have a dream." We drew pictures of him and it was fun and beautiful. Thank you for reading. By: Lion

Placemats for the Homeless

So we made placemats for the homeless. The homeless are staying in our church for one month. The church feeds them and gives them a nice place to sleep that is warm because it is so cold outside. They are gone though before we even come to school so we never see them. We wanted them to feel loved even though we can't see them. We made them placemats to put their food on when they eat dinner with our church. We made pictures of Jesus, rainbows, crosses and other things that are about God. We had fun making them really colorful and fun.

Fortune Time Tellers

We got to play with Fortune Tellers in Math. We used them to tell time. We learned how to cut and fold them. They were hard. Then we would ask each other questions and we would get a time to make on our plastic clocks. We took turns and it was so much fun. We loved it.

Martin Luther King Jr has a dream

We learned this week about Martin Luther King Jr. We did two things. We drew Martin Luther King and then colored it. Then we made another one out of paper and we had to write about dreams we have. We had to write dreams that would help the world be a better place and not about the dreams we have at night time or like we want to own like video games or candy. It was fun to learn about Martin Luther King Jr and how he helped the world.

Cause and Effect Story

We read lots of books like, "If you give a mouse a cookie," "If you give a dog a donut" and "If you give a moose a muffin." We talked about how when things happen, other things can happen too. We also talked about how important it is to see when these happens in stories. It is also important when you write stories to have punctuation. We worked on these things for a couple of days. We wrote stories about if you give an animal hot chocolate. We did our best work! We also got to put marshmallows and glitter on the hot chocolate pictures. And we designed the mug! It was awesome. We love playing ST Math. When we do well, Jiji goes around the world. For 10% Jiji went to Africa. For 20% Jiji went to Scotland. Then jiji went to Russia and then he went to Senegal Africa. Then Jiji went to Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. Finally he went to Brazil. It is lots of fun when he goes to a new place. We love watching him travel. We can't wait to find out where he will go when he gets to 70%! We will work hard on ST MATH! By: Fox

Jesus

We learned all about baby Jesus and his birthday. We watched a short video about the story of the nativity and we also got to make our own drawings of it and sticker stories of it. We had nativity stickers and we put them together to make the birth of Jesus. It reminded us about the real reason for the season.

We also made these wonderful plates for our parents for Christmas! We loved making them!

We made a cool video and figured out how they lived and where they lived and what they wore. My group did the Wampanoag and learned all about the tribe and we presented to the class. It was fun! QR code writing

We did some writing this week. We used QR codes and our iPads. It was fun seeing what you had to do. The QR codes were all different and asked you to write about different things. When I scanned it, they asked me to write about three of my good talents. I wrote a long story about it in my Writing Journal. I can't wait to use the QR codes again.

We learned that they release balloons called globos on Christmas Eve. We got to learn about a lot of different things that happen on Christmas Around the World. It was fun to learn and work together. We made a presentation and showed our friends. by: Fox

New Year Resolutions

We used the app Pic Kids and created a collage to talk about our New Year Resolutions. Each group had to find a picture of New Years and to type up what they're going to do for a goal for 2016. We also got to use New Year Stickers. We also got to take a selfie and put those on our collages. Miss Crowley hung them on the wall in our classroom. It is cool to see whatever wants to do in 2016!
